Policy research and advocacy

Climate change is an impetus that can transform India into a sustainable, low-carbon country with a high-growth economy. It is therefore vital that the country establishes a strategic and definitive roadmap along with policy frameworks for climate action. This will enable the country to drive targeted efforts to achieve its net-zero commitment of 2070. India’s carbon market is still at an elementary stage and there is an urgent need for regulatory frameworks and policy guidelines that provide clear mandates on emission reductions.

We advocate for deep researches for the development of policy guidelines like incentivizing mitigations, mandatory climate compliance of businesses and legal frameworks for the use of CSR funds of climate action that can together encourage more organizations across sectors to adapt increased climate actions. India also needs an education policy and accreditation on climate change and its mitigation to impart requisite climate skills and help the country in the creation of a talent pool. These will also encourage more start-ups to innovate greater climate action efforts.
